Azerbaijani Light Oil Transit via BTC Through Georgian Territory Increased by 4%

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 October / Trend /In Jan-Sept 2008, 195.83mln barrels of oil was transited via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline through the territory of Georgia, which is more by 7mln barrels or 4% compared to the same period in 2007, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation reported.

The Azerbaijani light oil, which is produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, is transported via BTC

The oil transit via BTC in September, touched 19.02mln barrels against 12.38mln in August.

The total length of BTC is 1,768km, 443km running through Azerbaijan, 249 - Georgia and 1,706 - Turkey. The construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was made operational on 18 May 2005.

The BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25.00%); Chevron (8.90%); StatoilHydro (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5.00%); Total (5.00%), Itochu (3.40%); INPEX (2.50%), ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Hess (2.36%).
