Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 November / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov/ Monthly transhipment of oil and oil products via the SOCAR-owned oil terminal in Georgia's Kulevi port on the Black Sea coast will total 350,000 tons in near future, a source at the terminal said on 15 November.

"We have all opportunities to bring transhipment to 350,000 tons in near future," the source said.

Transhipment via the Kulevi terminal totalled 280,000 tons in October and is expected to comprise the same volume in November, the source said.

In September, Kulevi terminal transhipped 190,000 tons of oil and oil products.

The Kulevi terminal was put into operation in May, 2008, but the actual transhipment of oil products commenced in June. The terminal has transhipped about 1mln tons of oil and oil products so far.

Transhipment capacity of the terminal totals 10mln of oil cargo per year, including 3mln tons of oil, 3mln tons of diesel fuel, and 4mln tons of fuel oil. Kulevi terminal can simultaneously accept up to 168 cistern carriage. The tank battery's capacity totals 320,000 cu m. The port is capable of admitting tankers with deadweight of up to 100,000 tons, which makes the project economically rational. There are plans to increase the transhipment capacity of the terminal to 15-20mln tons.
