Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 November / Trend , corr. E.Ismayilov /Azarigas CJSC reconstructs the infrastructure on gas transporting lines within the project to increase Azerbaijani gas supplies to Georgia, a source in the JSC reported.

"The compressor station in Agdash has been reestablished for several months and the pipeline is also being reconstructed," the source said.

Last week, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed a deal to stir up SOCAR's activity on the Georgian gas market within the next five years, since 2009. Under the memorandum, SOCAR will open daughter company in order to implement the project. The company will provide gas to gas users (social groups) determined by the Georgian Government.

The daily carrying capacity of the pipeline is about 1.3-1.5mln cu m of gas within the contract between Georgia and SOCAR. The maximum transporting pressure is planning to increase to 20 atmospheres against the current 10 atmospheres with an aim to increase the gas transporting via the pipeline.

The compressor station is being reconstructed for a long period and will be put into operation if necessary. "Everything will depend on the volume and pressure of gas," the source said.

Georgia will sale gas on fixed prices to SOCAR daughter company, which Georgia receives by transporting Russian gas, Azerbaijani gas via the South-Caucasian pipeline, and commercial gas from the Azerbaijani Shah Daniz field.
