SOCAR Obliged to Preserve Social Tariffs for Population and Power Plants of Georgia for Five Years

Georgia, Tbilisi, 18 November /corr. Trend N.Kirtskhalia / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) was obligated for five years to preserve for Georgia the social tariff for the population and heat and power plants. The Energy Minister of Georgia, Aleko Khetaguri, briefed the media that this costs $170 for th. cu.m of gas for the population and $143 for plants.

Within this social tariff, next year SOCAR will supply 1.05bln cu.m of gas to Kaztransgaz Company for providing the population at the tariff of 51 tetri ($1 - 1.65 lary) for the cu.m. However, as a whole, Georgia consumes 1.8bln cu.m of gas per year. At the social tariff, the gas will also be supplied to the population in the regions.
The commercial purchases of gas for the enterprises of the country remain valid.

"We obtained the guarantees of stable gas supply for five years and unchanged tariff for the population. In exchange, SOCAR obtained the right to manage the gas, obtained by Georgia from five sources (SOCAR, Azerigaz, transit for Armenia, Gazprom, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, additional commercial BTE)," said the Minister, emphasizing that previously gas from these sources was managed by the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.
