SOCAR to Interpret Seismic Data for Operation Company in Onshore Fields

Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 December / Trend , corr. E.Ismayilov /The Reservoir Modelling Centre of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) held interpretation of three-dimensional seismic metering, which was carried out in the north part of the Kursengi field, which is operated by the Salyan oil company, the centre said.

"Now we carry out interpretation of data, which we received in the result of 3D-seismic that was held by Salyan oil," a source said.

There are many works to do, and under the contract, the results of works must be developed until the end of September 2009.

Previously centre completed works on modeling of the southern part of Kursengi field. The modeling centre presented its forecasts on the position of new fields. A total of 80 wells were drilled in the field. The overestimation of reserves of the field showed the small difference between initially forecasted data, which were equal to 18mln tons.

In 2008, Salyan oil is intended to drill six operational fields, whose depth will be about 3,500-4,000 metres. The budget of operating company for this year is determined at $45.5mln.

Salyan Oil is engaged in development of Azerbaijan's Kursangi-Garabagh onshore field. Validity period of the contract is twenty five years. The shareholders of the project are SOCAR - 50%, two Chinese companies - China National Oil & Gas Exploration and Development Corp. (CNODC) and CNPC (Hong Kong) Ltd. (CNPCHK) with 25% share each
