SOCAR resumes pumping oil via earlier damaged pipeline

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 29 / Trend , S.Aliyev/ "The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) fully removed problems aroused as a result of oil dumping at 500mm-pipeline," Nizamaddin Guliyev, the head of the Public Relations Department of SOCAR, said on Dec. 29.

On Dec. 23 oil dumping was connected with pumping oil, produced in offshore field of the company.

"Despite bad weather condition, repair has been efficiently realized and work of the pipeline has been resumed," Guliyev said.

Oil dumping, which is produced in Guneshli field and transported via Neft Dashlari field, occurred at 500mm-pipeline 15km distance of Chilov island in the 0.8m of depth under water. A reason of oil dumping was corrosion of the pipeline.

Tankers of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet, belonging to SOCAR, have been used to deliver oil during repair work. An operation staff has established at Azneft production unity (on production of oil and gas in own fields of SOCAR) to solve the aroused problems.

At present ecological problems aroused because of gas dumping are being removed, the official of SOCAR said.
