Second rehabilitation stage of main gas pipeline realized in Georgia
Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan.28 / Trend , N. Kirtzkhalia / Executive director of Millennium of Georgi Abdushelishvili Fund, official representative of Georgian corporation Challenges of Millennium Colin Backli and director general of Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia Zurab Janjgava got familiarized with the construction and rehabilitation work of a main gas pipeline in Gardabani region intersecting Georgia from the north to the south.
The construction work is carried out within the second rehabilitation phase of the Georgian north-south main gas pipeline under the rehabilitation of energy infrastructure project of the Millennium Fund.
Georgian joint company New Energy-Tbilisi-Gruzhydro, a winner of an international tender, began the construction in autumn 2008 and will end in spring 2009. It is first-ever large-scale work of the Georgian company.
Budget of the energy infrastructure rehabilitation project comprises roughly $62.5 million and aimed to repair the damaged parts of the main gas pipeline six of which have been already rehabilitated in the first phase. The third phase will include other seven damaged parts.
