Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 18 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/
The upswing in gas explosions is partially due to ignoring installation rules during construction, Azerbaijani Industrial and Energy Ministry State Gas Supervision Department head Samid Aliyev said on Feb. 18.
"The reasons for these explosions and other accidents are violations during planning and construction - not only gas-use violations," Aliyev said.
Special commissions led by the Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry were formed in every district of Baku to investigate gas-use violations, Gas Supervision Department head Asif Zeynalov said earlier.
Recently, citizens have resorted to using homemade gas stoves that do not meet technical norms due to the cold winter. Numerous carbon-monoxide poisoning cases and explosions have resulted.
The commissions will conduct work over two months and submit a report on the reasons for the recent increase in gas blasts and carbon-monoxide poisonings to the government, Zeynalov said.
The commissions were formed after an Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers meeting in January.
