Oil-and-gas equipment from Azerbaijan can enter the Kazakh market through joint ventures, a KazMunaiGaz representative, who wished to remain anonymous, told Trend .
"Oil-and-gas equipment from neighboring Azerbaijan can enter the Kazakh market through joint ventures," the source said.
Previously, Kazakhstan did not produce oil-and-gas equipment and purchased it from Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, whose markets were traditionally seen as the strongest in the region, he said.
"In Soviet times, we bought all our equipment from Baku. The famous AzinMash-37 is still used on many Kazakh oil fields. We bought various lifts from Baku. But now the Petropavlovsk Heavy Machinery Plant produces equipment. The plant's products have partially replaced imports," the source said.
Azerbaijan's oil-and-gas equipment has always been notable for quality and longevity.
"It is a pity that after the collapse of the Soviet Union our relations in this area were broken off. But as I said earlier, they can be revived through the establishment of joint ventures," he said.
According to KazMunaiGaz, over 300 kinds of oil-and-gas equipment were manufactured in Kazakhstan over 12 years. The company adopted a program to increase Kazakhstan's share in oil-and-gas projects.
