RWE Dea wants to develop in Caspian

German oil and gas company RWE Dea seeks ways to enlarging its operations in the Caspian region, Georg Schoening, executive director of the company, said in an interview to Financial Times Deutschland newspaper.   

"We hold talks with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. I hope that we will be able to sign a contract with Turkmenistan in the first half of this year," said Schoening. According to him, the production in this country can begin in 2017 or 2018.

RWE Dea also displays an interest in the possible projects of Kazakhstan, said Schoening.

German company is one of the participants in the consortium on the Nabucco project, which envisages delivering gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU countries. Other participants are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Rumanian Transgaz and Turkish Botas.

Last year the gas production of RWE Dea increased 3 percent to 3.3 billion cubic meters, while oil production reduced 8 to 2.5 million.
