The Iranian oil minister read a list of the countries through which the Persian Pipeline will transport gas to Europe, national television media reported.

"The pipeline will transport Iranian gas to Europe through Iraq, Syria, the Mediterranean, Greece and Italy," Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari said at a news conference in Syria.

"Many countries were proposed, but Iraq, Syria and the Mediterranean are the best route," Nozari said.

"Europe is interested in Iranian gas. We are discussing the pipeline with these countries," he added.

Syrian Oil and Mineral Resources Minister Sofian Al Alao said the Iranian and Syrian presidents are reviewing a number of signed agreements, which envisage transporting Iranian gas to Syria and building the Iranian-Venezuela-Malaysian oil refinery in the country.

Iran will begin transporting gas to Syria before the end of 2010.

The Iranian oil minister is on a 5-day visit to Syria.
