Azerbaijan ups power export to neighbor countries
Azerbaijan, Baku, April 17 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/
At present Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan exports roughly 17-20 megawatt of power to Turkey, Azerenergy Joint Stock Company (JSC) Head Etibar Pirverdiyev said on April 17.
"Nakhchivan's power system exports roughly 17-20 megawatt of power to Turkey at the moment due to old debts (for power delivery in early 1990s)," Pirverdiyev said.
Pirverdiyev said energy exchange took place with Russia and Iran in 2008. Black ink in both cases was for Azerenergy.
"We exported more power to Iran than we received in 2008," he said.
We received energy from Russia in 2008 which was by 54 percent less than 2007.
In 2008, Azerbaijan received 111 million kilowatt of power per hour from Russia compared to 245 million kilowatt per hour in 2007. Azerbaijan exported 335 million kilowatt of power per hour in 2008 compared to 320 million kilowatt per hour in 2007.
Energy exchange with Russia is still being implemented with zero balance. "It has been a week that we deliver power to Dagestan as part of emergency order due to work conducted in Dagestan," Pirverdiyev said.
