Turkmenistan prepares international energy strategy

Upon the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's order the first meeting of the inter-departmental working group on energy diplomacy of the country was held on Ashgabat on April 21, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
Heads of the Turkmen Ministries and departments - the state agency on use of hydrocarbon resources under the President, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources, the Institute of strategic planning and Economic Development, the Institute of Oil and Gas and the scientific-research institute of geologic exploration participated in work of the meeting.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, ambassador to Islamic Republic of Iran, ambassador to Kazakhstan, ambassador to Uzbekistan and ambassador to the Russian Federation participated in the meeting. Goals and tasks of the inter-departmental working group on realization energy strategy of Turkmenistan in the international sphere, especially, study and analysis of situation in the world energy sector, preparation of the international agreements and treaties of Turkmenistan on energy issues, determination of priority direction of cooperation of our country with other nations, international energy organizations and financial institutions.
Participants of the meeting stressed importance of the Turkmen President's decision on using mechanisms of energy diplomacy for further extension and stirring up of the international cooperation of the country in this sphere, the Foreign Ministry said. It was noted that the President's decision on realization Turkmenistan's strategy requires modern and systematic approach based on stabile international-legal and scientific basis, comprehensive analysis of development processes and tendencies in the world energy sphere.
Prior plans of the inter-departmental working group on energy diplomacy of Turkmenistan were indicated during the meeting among the President's international initiatives in energy cooperation.
