Azerbaijan, Baku, Apr 25 / Trend /

Azerbaijan exported over 9.6 million tons of oil through pipelines and railways in January to March, the State Customs Committee said.

Around 7.7 million tons oil were exported via the BP-operated Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) in this period

The BTC transports light oil produced at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields. The only foreign participants in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli project are the U.S. companies ExxonMobil and Devon. ExxonMobil and Devon were not investors in BTC construction and sell their oil via the Georgian port of Batumi.

According to the committee, roughly 611,000 tons of oil was exported via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in January-March. Mainly, the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) exports oil via this pipeline. Raw materials are also exported by joint ventures and operating companies with foreign capital.

A total of 1.1 million tons of oil were exported via the Baku-Supsa pipeline in January-March. BP is the operator.

Some 192,000 tons of oil were transported by railway in this period, the state committee said.

Besides ACG light oil of the American ExxonMobil and Devon, transit raw materials are transported via railways from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to the Georgian Black Sea ports via Azerbaijan.
