SOCAR Energy Georgia realizes over 170,000 tons of oil-related products in Georgia

The SOCAR Energy Georgia (SOCAR's daughter company in Georgia) sold over 171,000 tons of oil-related products on Georgia's market in January-May 2009, head of the company Mahir Mammadov said.

"Majority of the products accounts for petrol and diesel in five months," Mammadov said.

In January-May 2009, a total of 81,000 tons of petrol and about 71,000 tons of diesel was sold on Georgia's market. The rest share of oil-related products accounts for aviation kerosene, black oil, liquefied gas and other products.

A total of 30,000-31,000 tons of oil -related products are sold on the Georgian market monthly.

Mammadov said earlier that SOCAR Energy Georgia was planning to sale over 400,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil-related products in Georgia in 2009.

In 2008, 400,000 tons of Azerbaijani gas was imported to Georgia, compared to 196,000 tons in 2007.

Azerbaijani oil-related products cover approximately 50-60 percent of Georgia's market. Azerbaijani diesel covers about 60 percent and petrol -52-55 percent of market's demand in Georgia, Mammadov said earlier.

Azerbaijani oil refineries of SOCAR produced 2.5 million tons of oil in January-May 2009, compared to 3.06 million tons of the same period of 2008.

In 2008, Azerbaijani oil refineries produced about 7.35 million tons of oil.

Oil products are manufactured at two oil refining plants in Baku with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both plants are owned by SOCAR, which manufactures roughly 6 million tons of oil per day from offshore and onshore fields.
