BP divulges volume of proved oil reserves in Azerbaijan

As for Jan. 1, 2009, Azerbaijan's proved oil reserves amount to 7 billion barrels which equals estimates for early 2008, BP company's statistical review on world energy said.

BP reports averagely 914,000 barrels of oil was produced in Azerbaijan each day in 2008 and which was by 4.2 percent more than in 2007.

According to the company's estimates, oil consumption on Azerbaijan's domestic market dropped by 25.96 percent and amounted to 71,000 barrels per day in 2008.

BP is a giant foreign operator on development of the offshore oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan. The company is the operator of the project of development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields, where Azeri Light oil is produced and exported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Supsa and the Azerbaijani-Georgian railway to the Black Sea Supsa Port.
