Azerbaijan exports oil products worth $3bln in Q1

In the first quarter of 2009, Azerbaijan exported oil products worth $3.2 billion which comprises 88.4 percent of the country's total export, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) reported. The reports said dominant state of oil products was maintained. Oil export increased by 2 times compared to the same period in 2008.

In a total volume of the exported oil products, $245.6 million fell to oil refinery and $2.9 billion to the exported crude oil. Meanwhile, $2.7 billion fell to crude oil produced by the Azerbaijan International Operation Company (AIOC). Some $2.02 billion of them belongs to Azerbaijan and $636.1 million was repatriated by giant oil companies via their direct investments in the country's oil and gas projects.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the country's other enterprises exported crude oil worth $128.1 million.

It is notable that a total cost of the exported non-oil products increased by 34 percent and reached $170.9 million.
