Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which is being laid via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, will make a great contribution to development of economies of the involved countries, Chinese ambassador to Ashgabat U Khunbin said.

"It is difficult to overestimate its significance for development of economies of not only Turkmenistan and China, but also transit countries," he said.

The total length of the longest pipeline in the world which starts from the Turkmen fields on Amudarya coast, where Chinese CNPC is working, will be more than 7000 kilometers. First gas deliveries will be launched by early 2010. Turkmenistan will provide China with natural gas of 40 billion cubic meters a year over the next 30 years.

"The scale of construction is unlikely to be found in other parts of the world ... This ambitious project of Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline is also known as a new Great Silk Way, which, like its ancient precedent, connects East and West. But this time makes significant contribution to the energy security of many countries," he said.

Turkmenistan, rich in hydrocarbon resources, seeks to share these resources with other nations. In this regard "there is active cooperation" between Turkmenistan and China.

U Khubin said Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov purposefully implements policies of multiple export routes that it is very important for the global energy market and pays great attention to the construction of a pipeline from Turkmenistan to China, due to which complex issues that are typically encountered when implementing such large-scale projects are easily solved.
