Ukraine plans to reduce gas consumption considerably, Ukrainian President's Special Envoy for Energy Affairs Bogdan Sokolovski said to Trend correspondent in Kiev.
"Ukraine has such potential. We have capacity to reduce gas consumption twice," Sokolovski said.
She said if Ukraine reduces gas consumption, import can be decreased up to 20,000 billion cubic meters per year.
Ukraine was expected to import 40 billion cubic meters of gas in 2009, a drop of 26.7 percent from 2008.
