SOCAR Energy Georgia (subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR)) sold about 365 million cubic meters of gas on the Georgian market in January-June 2009, the company said. The sold gas is designated for people and power stations (60 percent falls to people's needs and 40 percent - power plants).

Around 179 million cubic metre of gas from the Shah Deniz field has been sold on the Georgia's market in January-June. In this period, SOCAR sold roughly 134.5 million cubic metre of gas in Georgia. Moreover, the Georgian market has received about 51 million cubic metre of the Russian transit gas in this period.

Under the forecasts, the company will sell roughly 850 million cubic metre of gas on the Georgian market in 2009 compared to the planned 1.05 billion cubic metre.

Cut in gas sale on the Georgian market is connected with decrease in volumes of production in the country due to financo-economic crisis, as well as abnormal environmental conditions in Georgia.
