All routes of transportation to the region of the Black Sea, including railroad to Batumi and Kulevi and pipeline to Supsa are necessary to realize the Trans-Caspian project (transportation of Kazakh oil via Azerbaijan), Azerbaijani minister of industry and energy Natiq Aliyev said.

"Kazakhstan is interested in its oil transportation via the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan for further supply to the region of the Black Sea. Both railroads and oil pipelines can be used for transportation," minister said.

The Kazakh side is interested in Baku-Batumi route as Batumi oil terminal (owned by Kazakhstan) is situated there, he said. "Azerbaijani side is interested in oil transportation to the terminal in Kulevi (owned by Azerbaijan) via railroad," Aliyev said.

But it is early to speak about proportions of oil transportation distributed between the routes, minister said.
