Qatar to invest in Georgia's energy sector

Georgia is making every efforts to attract investments from Qatar, Head of the Georgian presidential administration Ekaterina Sharashidze told journalists.

According to Sharashidze, despite the economic crisis, the Gulf countries differ for liquidity and due to this, they are looking for a stable investment environment. Given this, the Georgian delegation had brought to Qatar certain projects, she said.

Qatar is interested in hydropower, renewable energy, agriculture and processing industry, "said Sharashidze.

The both sides will have talks on this. The Georgian delegation includes the ministers of energy and agriculture.

Negotiations on construction of new hydroelectric power station in Georgia, as well as power plants, wind power are underway, Georgian Energy Minister Alexander Khetaguri told the Georgian journalists in Doha. "We are in talks with the Qatari side and Qatar has already expressed interest, negotiations may continue in the near future," he said, noting that the Qatari businessmen are going to visit Georgia to familiarize with the country's investment climate.

Head of Adjara government Levan Varshalomidze, who also accompanies the Georgian president in Qatar, said that Georgia, including Adjara has a great potential for investment.
