SOCAR to open petrol stations in several Georgia towns by late 2009

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to put into operation seven petrol stations under its brand in December, a high-ranking company representative said today.

"The total number of SOCAR petrol stations in Georgia is 25. In December seven petrol stations will also be put into operation," the source said.

Three gas stations are planned to open in Georgia. One will open in Zestafoni, one in Sagarejo, one in Barzhomi and one in a local settlement.

Mammadov said earlier that "we have many plans and we want our company to occupy first place in retail sales and we will achieve this goal in several years. If the number of our filling stations in Georgia reaches 60-70 units, then this means we will be close to our goal. "

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with the distribution and marketing of oil and oil products in the country. SOCAR Georgia co-founders include: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili -16.3 percent.
