The Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry has not appealed to the Tariff Council to increase fuel prices, Ministry Spokesman Azer Mansimli said today.

"Information that the ministry appealed to the council requesting an increase in fuel prices contradicts reality," he added.

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers fixed the AI-95 petroleum price at 0.6 manat per liter, 0.55 manat for AI-92, 0.45 manat foe L 62 and 0.55 manat for AI-80 from Jan. 8, 2007.

In January-November the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) sold 539,400 tons of petroleum products in the domestic market, the SOCAR Marketing and Economic Operations Department reported earlier. In November the figure was over 51,300 tons. 

In January-November the company sold about 177,700 tons of gasoline and over 328,300 tons of diesel fuel on the domestic market.

Azerbaijan produces oil products at two Baku oil refineries whose total capacity is 20 million tons of oil per year. Both plants belongs SOCAR, which annually processes over six million tons of oil from land and sea fields at its own expense.
