The Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry began developing the country's fuel and energy balance for 2010.
The gas indicator is the main indicator of the balance for 2010. These are the volume of gas that Azerbaijan will receive from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field and the amount of gas that the Azerbaijan International Operating Company will transfer to Azerbaijan from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field, as well as SOCAR's gas production volumes.
The gas balance is very important in term of its exports to Russia and Iran. This year, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Russia's Gazprom signed an agreement to supply the Azerbaijani gas to Russia beginning from 2010. Under the contract, deliveries will reach at least 500 million cubic meters of gas per year. The company also signed agreement with Iran to supply gas to the northern regions of the country in winter and begin negotiations on large-scale gas deliveries to Iran.
Presently, the county is coordinating the balance indicators to approve for next year. Then, the document will be submitted to the government for approval.
