Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 24 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

Energy supply to countries will be implemented mainly by oil and gas by mid of 21st century, Alexander Ageev, Russian Academy of Science Institute of Economic Strategy's Director General said today.

"Alternative energy sources will not take a special place in energy supply, and, in my opinion, we will live in conditions when oil and gas will dominate in energy supply till mid-21st century," Ageev said during the speech on "Global energy security and alternative energy sources," at the Center for Strategic Studies under the Azerbaijani President

According to Ageev, the share of alternative and renewable energy sources in global energy supply could hit 10-20 percent. In Europe guidelines on this issue determine the share of alternative sources in different countries in an average makes up 10-20 percent. But in some European countries this figure may increase by 30 percent

Development of alternative energy sources will depend on the state, regional and global structures' activities and decisions in this area, Ageev added

The main conditions for its development is the state support, the necessity to promote this field of energy production, as well as reducing the cost of necessary equipment and operation, Ageev said
