SOCAR plans to double number of own filling stations in Georgia in 2010

SOCAR (State Oil Compnay of Azerbaijan) plans to put into operation 30 more filling stations under its brand in 2010, SOCAR Energy Georgia (subsidiary of SOCAR in Georgia) said today.

"There are many great plans concerning filling stations. About 30 new stations are planned to be opened next year," the source said.

At present, about 28 filling stations operate under SOCAR brand in Georgia, the source said. Two more filling stations will be opened by the end of 2009, in particular, in Tbilisi and Borjomi.

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with the distribution and marketing of oil and oil products in the country. In particular, the company sells oil and gas on the Georgian market. SOCAR Energy Georgia co-founders include: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili -16.3 percent.
