Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 5 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

In 2009, Azerenerji JSC produced 18 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to 21 billion in 2007, Azerenerji Vice President Marlen Asgerov said today

According to Asgerov, electricity consumption decreased due to the replacement of power lines with new aerial isolated cables, installation of new meters, working on the smart cards basis, and suspension of some production companies, and in particular chemical products production companies

Azerbaijani power supply capacity hit 6,000 megawatt and only 3,000 is downloaded, Asgerov said

If earlier Azerbaijan exported electricity from neighboring countries, now the country completely meets its requirements, and also exports electricity. So far, the company obtained loans amounting to over two billion dollars to increase the energy system power

At present, collection among consumers for electricity consumption made up roughly 85-90 percent in the country
