Batumi oil terminal invested more than $5.6 million to develop its infrastructure in 2009, the terminal reported

According to the terminal, the most part of funds were spent on environmental projects and the removal of pollution which had accumulated in the terminal over the several decades 

In February 2008, KazTransOil, a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunaiGaz, acquired Batumi oil terminal and Petrotrans forwarding company. KazTransOil also acquired the right of long-term management of the Batumi seaport.

The Batumi oil terminal and Batumi seaport invested more than $23 million in assets and provided with job roughly 3.500 people including contractors from Feb.1 2008 till Jan.1 2010

At present the environmental inspection is examining the terminal. The terminal has received a license for environmental impact from the Environment and Natural Resources Ministry Feb.3 2009

The Ministry periodically conducts such inspections. The relevant agencies carry out audit via the third parties including BP, ExxonMobil, Chevron, TengizChevrOil, Shell, and SEACOR.
