Turkmengas confirmed that natural gas supplies have launched to Russia via the Dovletabat-Deryalyk pipeline Jan. 9.
An agreement to resume gas supplies was reached Dec. 22 during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Ashgabat.
The sides reportedly agreed on a mutually beneficial fuel price.
Gazprom Export and Turkmengaz signed alterations and supplements to their long-term natural gas sales contract. The agreement envisages prices fully corresponding with the conditions of the European gas market.
"The commencement of natural gas supplies to the north shows that Turkmenistan and Russia are bringing their bilateral relations to a level," an official source said.
