In 2009, Bakgaz (distribution and sale of gas to Baku), under the Azerigas Production Unity (PU), pumped about 2.45 billion of gas to the Baku gas supply system,  a source in the company said. Earlier, Azerigas JSC was attached to the structure of SOCAR (Sate Oil Company of the Azerbaijan) as PU.

"As a result of 2009, we can say the Baku PU supplied more than 2.448 billion cubic meters of gas," the source added.

According to the source, in December about 317.5 million cubic meters of gas was pumped to the Baku gas supply system compared to more than 334.4 million in December 2008.

The PU transferred about 2.45 billion cubic meters of gas to the gas feed system of Baku in 2008.

PU refused from season gas supply (summer and winter seasons) in Baku's gas system in 2008. Volume of supplied gas is determined by consumers' demand. Introduction of season regime was connected with lack of gas meters among most part of population. As a result population used gas irrationally. Presently, 100 percent of users of Baku's system were provided with gas meters, a source said. Earlier, daily gas supply was 3-4 million cubic meters in summer but 10-13 million cubic meters in winter.
