Azerenergy Head: Azerbaijan will commission new power station in 2011

Azerenergy expects to finish the construction of the Janub power stations in 2011, Azerenergy Head Etibar Pirverdiyev said.
"Construction of the Janub gas turbine power plant continues and we will ensure its commissioning in 2011," he said.
The company is constructing the new Janub power plant with a capacity of 780 MW in the Shirvan city of Azerbaijan.
A total of 28 transformers will be installed to transmit electricity at the power station. The station will operate with black oil and gas thanks to advanced technologies.
The construction the plant will increase the energy security of the Absheron Peninsula and Azerbaijan's southern region. Also, it will help improve the efficiency, energy-transmitting and energy-distributing systems.
