The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) was named company of the year in the Georgian journal Names. The journal presented 32 nominations a day earlier in Tbilisi.

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) was named company of the year in the Georgian journal Names. The journal presented 32 nominations a day earlier in Tbilisi.

The annual journalistic encyclopedia Names of the Year ranked events and people in 2009.

SOCAR Energy Georgia is a SOCAR subsidiary, which handles the distribution and marketing of oil and oil products in Georgia. Its co-founders include: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili -16.3 percent.

The most modernized facility in Georgia was named the Black Sea Oil Terminal (Kulevi). Meanwhile, the title of Georgian investor of the year went to Kakhi Kaladze.

The terminal in Kulevi was put into operation in May 2008. Its total capacity is 10 million tons of oil per year, including three million tons of oil, three million tons of diesel fuel, and four million tons of fuel oil. The total volume of the reservoir tank is 320,000 cubic meters.
