Transporting gas within the second stage of development of the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field to the European countries is a priority for Azerbaijan, said the head of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Rovnag Abdullayev said to a meeting with the delegation led by board chairman of the Greek DEPA Gas Corporation Harry Sachinis.
At the meeting, Abdullayev noted that within the short term, Azerbaijan transformed from a gas importing country to exporter and now exports gas to four neighboring countries. According to Abdullayev, bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Greece have strengthened, and DEPA and SOCAR play positive role in this process.
During the meeting, Sachinis said that at the high-level meetings, Greece has repeatedly announced its desire to buy Azerbaijani gas.
The meeting also focused on prospects of short-term and long term co-operation.
