The German RWE, a Nabucco gas pipeline project shareholder, lobbied the economic viability of pumping Azerbaijani gas via this route compared to other regional pipelines.

As stated in the presentation by RWE Gas Midstream Business Development head Jeremy Ellis, Azerbaijani gas producers will save 4 billion to 9 billion euro pumping gas via Nabucco at a cost of 77 euro per 1,000 cubic meters. As a computational model, RWE accepts as the transportation basis 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per year via Nabucco starting from 2015 for 25 years. The capacity of Nabucco in 2015 will exceed 15 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

RWE expects that negotiations with pipe and equipment suppliers will begin in July-October 2010 before the commencement of construction in 201, with first deliveries to begin in 2014.

The Nabucco project is worth 7.9 billion euro. Participants are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE companies. Each participants has equal share to the amount of 16.67 percent.
