Official London sees Turkmenistan as a prospective partner, British Energy Minister Lord Hunt said at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

"The British government attaches great importance to the cooperation with Turkmenistan as a reliable and prospective partner, acting bulwark of peace and security in Central Asia," Hunt said.

The Turkmen leader emphasized that Ashgabat is "open for constructive interaction and sees great opportunities for successful cooperation with British partners in various fields, including the fuel and energy sectors."

He said, "Turkmenistan is open to wide mutually beneficial cooperation, for the optimization of which the new Law on Hydrocarbon Resources is adopted."
