Modernization of fuel and energy complex, effective development of the country's rich energy resources is of paramount importance for successful implementation of the socio-economic programs implemented in Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
According to BP's report on natural gas reserves in the world, Turkmenistan ranked fourth, after Russia, Iran and Qatar in 2009.
At the governmental meeting he also stressed the importance of further increasing production of hydrocarbon raw and production of high quality competitive products, as well as the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners, Turkmen government press service said.
Turkmenistan has recently achived to reach alternative routes bypass Russia, a gas pipeline in China and additional branch in Iran have been put into operation. Export to Russia, which was stopped in April 2009, was restored . Discussed projects: an additional pipeline to Russia (the Caspian Sea - in Kazakhstan), Europe (Nabucco - through the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan) and India (Transafghan thorugh Pakistan).
