Oil production increases in Azerbaijan in January-February

Azerbaijan produced 7.97 million tons of crude oil and condensate in January and February or 8.5 percent more than oil and condensate production in January-February 2009, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.

The main volume of oil production last month fell to the Azerbaijan International Operating Company. It produced 6.6 million tons of crude oil and condensate at the block of offshore fields Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and gas condensate field Shah Deniz or 10.3 percent more than in same period of 2009.

Gas production amounted to about 4.24 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijan in January-February, or 11,4 percent more than the same period of 2009. About 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas fall on the field "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" (associated gas) and "Shah Deniz" or 6.3 percent less than in January-February 2009.

About 3.55 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in Azerbaijan in January and February or 11 percent less than the same period of 2009.
