Turkey reduces gas import in Jan-Feb

The Turkish Botas state pipeline company imported over 5.7 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in January-February compared to roughly 6.1 billion cubic meters in 2009.

Botas imported over 33.6 billion cubic meters of gas in 2009 from various sources compared to approximately 37.8 billion cubic meters in 2008, Botas reported.

In January-February, about 146 million cubic meters of gas fell to export operations. In 2009, roughly 721 million cubic meters fell to export operations, compared to 443 million cubic meters in 2008. In 2007, the figure was 31 million cubic meters.

In January-February, 6.13 billion cubic meters of gas were sold on Turkey's domestic market compared to 6.7 billion cubic meters in January-February 2009.

In 2009, over 32 billion cubic meters of gas were sold on Turkey's domestic market compared to more than 36 billion cubic meters in 2008. In 2007, the figure was 35.1 billion cubic meters.
