Since early June, CJSC Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri will begin operations on bioremediation of oil-contaminated lands (to 33 hectares) on the industrial areas of Kurdakhani of Oil and Gas Departmend Balakhanineft, the CJSC said.
According to the report, the operations will be conducted within the contract signed between Azneft Production Unit of SOCAR and Ekol CJSC.
Within the monitoring held in one of the industrial areas Kurdakhani already 11 hectares of contaminated lands have been determined, in which 23,277 cubic meters of oil sludge and over 33,773 cubic meters of emissions with water and crude oil were identified.
At present, preparatory works are underway in this area. Implementation of the project is planned to be completed by the end of 2010.
Co-founders of Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri, created March 1, 2006 to solve environmental problems existing in the Absheron peninsula, are SOCAR - 51 percent and Lancer SA Services - 49 percent.
