Azerbaijan, Baku, June 1 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) within projects of export of Azerbaijani gas to the European market is trying to reach the lowest possible value of transit costs, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said today.

He said at present SOCAR holds talks and studies the possibilities of partners within the Nabucco pipeline project, TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) and ITGI (Turkey-Greece-Italy).

In this regard, he said, transit costs, which directly affect the gas costs are very important.

"The transit cost in the market is of great importance and has influence on the final cost of gas. The higher will be the transit costs, the less will be our income. Therefore, we try to achieve minimum transit cost," Abdullayev said.

Abdullayev said at present works with participants of the Nabucco project, in particular, with OMV (Austria) and RWE (Germany), as well as with participants of the TAP and ITGI projects are underway.

After signing a transit agreement with Turkey and determining the total transit cost SOCAR will be able to determine the most favorable direction, Abdullayev said.
