"Azerenergy" JSC plans to complete work on the reconstruction of thermal power plant "Azerbaijan" by late 2010, JSC Deputy President Marlen Askerov said.
He said that the work on the renovation of 3 of 8 units available at the station has been completed.
The capacity of each thermal power of 300 megawatts. But even from the beginning the power generating stations were not working at full capacity (only up to 260-270 MW) due to manufacturing defect.
Upon completion of the reconstruction, the power of each unit will be increased to 330 megawatts and fuel consumption will be reduced from 366 to 320 grams, Askerov said.
In January-March the station generated about 1.52 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, or 1 percent more than the projected amount. In March the figure was 473 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, or two percent more than the projected amount.
Thermal Power Station 'Azerbaijan' produces about 45 percent of all electricity produced in the country.
