Azerbaijan, Baku, June 9 / Trend /

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has installed one of four blocks as part of a project to construct the new Oily Rocks-2585 Platform. The block was installed using the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet's Aliaga Shikhlinski crane vessel.

According to the company, the remaining three blocks are currently under construction. Two are being assembled at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant and one is being constructed at a Neftegazstroy Trust site in Zig.

New platforms are necessary to maintain stable oil production at Oily Rocks. Oily Rocks is the first offshore oilfield where Azerbaijan began hydrocarbon production.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said earlier that the residual recoverable oil and gas reserves at Oily Rocks exceed 182 million tons.
