SOCAR's ecology department has completed an inventory of greenhouse gases in the enterprises of the company, as well as operating companies and joint ventures, a message said.
SOCAR said that emission of gases making greenhouse effect, amounted to 19,217,5 tons of carbon dioxide in 2009. The major volume is 15,973.22 tons of carbon dioxide accounted for PU "Azerigas" (gas distribution in Azerbaijan).
Monitoring was conducted within the activities related to the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as to specify the plan of actions on the Plan to reduce associated gas within SOCAR's strategy.
The reports were prepared as a result of monitoring. Emission of gases making greenhouse effect at SOCAR enterpises, joint ventures and operating companies, was calculated.
