Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 /Trend, E.Ismayilov/

Unresolved issues on transportation of Azerbaijani gas limit the ability of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) in its supply to potential buyers, a senior official of SOCAR said on July 6.

Currently, in addition to perspective projects on gas pipelines, SOCAR is considering the possibility of gas supplies to Greece, Syria. Bulgaria, Romania and other European countries.

"The question of transportation is on the agenda. We could currently provide certain volumes of gas to customers, for example, to Syria or elsewhere. But, as you know, the capacity of the existing pipeline infrastructure restricts the process," said the representative of SOCAR.

However, according to the source, even if there is technical capacity, it needs to solve commercial issues and the issue of tariffs.

"Therefore, we consider the question of gas supply and sale to Syria along with other issues," said SOCAR official.
