Azerbaijan, Baku, July 7 / Trend /

Azerbaijan is reviewing its gas transportation projects from an economic standpoint, Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev told media today.

"We do not see anyone as a competitor," he said. "And we do not consider ourselves to be anyone's competitor. We just want to implement our own projects, which we consider to be appropriate from an economic point of view."

He noted that Azerbaijan is currently reviewing a series of liquefied natural gas supply projects including a project envisaging gas transport to Romania via the Black Sea.

Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan is closely considering the project. If it is practical and profitable from an economic standpoint, then the country will participate, he said.

Azerbaijani proven gas reserves amount to 2 trillion cubic meters.

Exploration work is underway at the Umid and Babak structures, the minister said, adding that analysis is also continuing at the Absheron and Nakhchivan structures.
