Petroleum Minister: Egypt wants to draw Azerbaijani investments in oil processing

Egypt intends to attract Azerbaijani investments in establishment of processing plants on the Mediterranean coast, Egyptian Petroleum Minister Amin Sameh Samir Fahmy told Trend in Baku.

"Alexandria has oil refineries. Two more refineries are under construction. We process Azerbaijani oil, but want more. We want more investments," Fahmy said.

During the talks in Baku with minister of economic development and industry and minister of energy, Azerbaijani investments or joint Azerbaijani-Egyptian investments in oil processing were discussed, the minister said.

He also noted that Egypt would like to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the field of staff training in the oil and gas industry.

"Azerbaijan has a very good oil Academy [Azerbaijan State Oil Academy], which was the best in the Soviet Union. We have a very strong need for technical personnel. We cooperate with gas company in Malaysia in staff training. We hope for similar cooperation with Azerbaijan to train masters and doctors, " the minister said.
