A Turkmen energy delegation headed by Vice Prime Minister Baimurad Hojamuhammedov will visit Iran July 20, an official Turkmen source reported.
Although Iran is an energy power with the second largest gas reserves in the world, Turkmenistan is vigorously supplying gas to nearby Iranian provinces.
Iran buys Turkmen gas to fill two pipelines and expects to increase the volumes sent to its border provinces to 20 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Iran also proposes using its territory as a transit route for Turkmen gas supplies to Turkey and Europe.
Tehran has repeatedly stated its interest in participating in Turkmenistan's South Eloten Field.
