A meeting was held this week between the management of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and President of the Italian ENI company Paolo Scaroni. ENI senior representatives Leonardo Bellodi, Daniele De Giovanni, Ernesto Ferlengi and Erika Mandraffino also attended the meeting.
SOCAR Vice President of Investment and Marketing Elshad Nasirov said business ties between ENI and SOCAR have intensified in recent years. He stressed that ENI member Saipem is successfully working in Azerbaijan and cooperating with SOCAR.
A delegation headed by De Giovanni also paid a visit to Baku in 2009 to discuss future cooperation with SOCAR.
SOCAR representatives expressed confidence that today's meeting will provide a new impetus to developing the companies' mutual relations.
The sides stressed that in recent years oil and natural gas production in Azerbaijan has reached record levels thanks to work carried out under the Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli projects at fields developed by SOCAR.
The ENI management were also informed about Azerbaijan's export oil and gas pipeline system, which facilitates the delivery of Azerbaijani energy resources to world markets.
