Siemens AG Österreich to conduct part of operations under Black Sea Regional Transmission project in Georgia

July 22, Georgia and Siemens AG Österreich signed the project "B" within Black Sea Regional Transmission between in Tbilisi.

The project "B" envisages construction of substation with capacity of 500/400/200 kV in Akhaltsikhe. substation "Zestafoni-500" and the modernization of substation "Gardabani - 500".

The previously announced tender was attended by three companies - Siemens AG Österreich, ABB-Sweden, AREVA-Germany. Siemens AG Österreich have made Among the best offer among them.
Operations will begin in August 2010 and be completed in January 2013. They will be implemented in phases.

The project "A", which involves construction of a power transmission line- 500 between Zestafoni and Akhaltsikhe, power transmission line "Zekari", transmission lines between Gardabani and Akhaltsikhe and power transmission line Meskheti will be carried out by the Indian company KEC international.

Work under this package also will begin in August and be completed in 2013.

The "Black Sea Regional Transmission" project is carried out at the expense of funding from donor organizations - EBRD, European Investment Bank, KFW. In total, 265 million euros have been allocated to the project.
